Thanks to Samsung, I learned the hard and expensive way that extended warranties are a very good idea. Unfortunately, I didn't buy one for my last t.v. and Samsung was glad remind me of that while they were washing their hands of me. I guess it was my own fault for expecting my t.v. to last more than 3 years.
These days, most manufacturers are only offering a 1 year warranty for their products which doesn't give us consumers a whole lot of confidence that they're motivated to make quality products for us that'll last longer than that. Many stores offer their own extended warranties but usually for a pretty hefty price. That's why I was not only glad to find the receiver I just bought here on Amazon for a great price but SquareTrade's 3 year extended warranty for only $40 more. It's good peace of mind to know that if something happens or it stops working for some reason, the repair or replacement is taken care of.
After the purchase, they emailed me quickly in response along with easy to follow instructions on what to do next. Honestly, I hope I never need them but it's good to know they're there if I ever do. And at $40, that's a small price to pay for peace of mind or a new receiver. Recommended.

Xbox 360 Pro 60GB Console I bought a used Xbox 360 from Amazon and made sure I got a warranty from Squaretrade since Microsoft has been having issues with this console for the last few years. The console worked great for about six months and then it suddenly started freezing and giving me the dreaded three rings of death. I sent my console back to Microsoft under the impression that they would still cover me under their three year warranty for the red ring of death and to my surprise I received my console the next week with no repairs having been made due to Microsoft stating that the repairs were not covered under this limited warranty. I immediately called Squaretrade and they stated that they would take my console and process my warranty claim. I sent them the console and they refunded my purchase price for the used Xbox 360 when they received it. Squaretrade is truly hassle-free and I would definitely recommend their warranty services!

I normally think that buying extended warranties is a fool's bet, but I was certainly proved wrong by SquareTrade! I have 5 or 6 warranties for my various electronics, and have had to file claims twice, both for Roombas. The first one was my 560: I filed online, and a special shipping box was sent to me in 2 days. I sent out my Roomba, and it was repaired and returned in better-than-new condition in less than a week. My second claim was for a Roomba 535, that was too far gone to repair, so I got a full refund for the purchase price in only 4 days! I used the refund to purchase a new Roomba, and I made sure to buy a warranty for it, too! This is truly a good deal (without it, I'd be out hundreds of $$), and they are truly pleasant to deal with when and if you have to put in a claim.
